I, having not had the resolve or self-discipline to faithfully post, and, in my defense, having been essentially removed from modern society and all its technological gimmicks, confess to my readership my failure to provide, what is but a mere puff of air in the blogosphere, but which I hope would come as a breath of fresh air in the midst of the the daily smog of modern life, my thoughts, observations, and creations.

Would your question be better stated in the present tense? (This seems to be the case to me, as the content which precedes is not strictly speaking a return to posting but rather a mention of a present absence.)
